Dr. Kris Wilson has won major teaching awards at five universities, including the prestigious 2015 “Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award” at The University of Texas at Austin. With 25+ years teaching, 10+ years as a journalist and a Ph.D. in Geography, Dr. Kris brings an interdisciplinary approach to public speaking, research and education.
Equally well-versed to discuss the state of journalism and media literacy, to the science of climate change and how it is communicated, he’s an international expert invited to make more than 50 public lectures and presentations across the world: in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, France, Great Britain, Brazil, South Africa, Canada and Wales.
His repertoire of lectures has grown beyond science communication and climate change reporting with an additional new focus on news literacy including: finding and using reliable media sources, finding and using diverse voices, press freedom and responsibility, media consolidation and its impact, and monitoring power and reporting truth in the age of “fake news.”
